Resins in this group have the characteristics of fire retardancy and self-extinguishes when moved apart from the flame source. Owing to this, successfully consumed in the production of automotive, sea vessels, railway wagon parts, electric and lighting equipments, etc., requiring flame and heat resistancy. Flame retardant and halogen-free resin types are also available for some specific productions.

Adding of styrene or another solvent can change the fire retardant characteristic of polyester
